FUNCTION
Mag Remover MG14SSD is an injection Flux based on salts that will selectively react with magnesium in aluminium alloys to effect its removal
AMOUNT TO USE
1 - 2% by weight of the metal charged. 1% of Mag. Remover MG14SSDd will remove approximately 0.1% magnesium from the melt.

RECOMMENDED APPLICATION
Reverberatory Furnace
1. Bring temperature of melt up to 740 - 760.
2. Inject into the melt Mag Remover MG14SSD at the rate of 0.8kg per 100kgs of melt.
3. When the mag remover has been injected into the melt, allow to stand for 3 - 4 minutes, then rabble the resultant flux residue into the melt for approximately 5 minutes. Check melt for magnesium level; if insufficient magnesium has been removed, repeat the injection cycle.

CRUCIBLE MELTING
1. Melt down charge under the protection of Morland Cover 101 added at the rate of 0.1 - 0.2kgs per 100kgs melt.
2. Raise temperature of melt to 740 - 760.
3. Skim off surface of melt.
4. Insert lance and inject Mag Remover MG99 at the rate of 1.5kgs per 100 kg melt.
5. Rabble into the melt the dross formed and skim off. Check magnesium level and if satisfactory adjust temperature and cast. If not repeat injection procedure.
NOTES:- As is common with most impurity removal processes, the efficiency of the flux in removing the unwanted element/s is largely dependent on two major factors:
a. Temperature of the metal being treated. The higher the melt temperature, the more reactive the flux will be in combining with the unwanted element/s to be removed.
b. Time of contact of the flux with the metal being treated, the longer the contact time, the greater is the amount of the element/s being removed.

HEALTH AND SAFETY 
1. When handling use a suitable barrier cream on hands.
2. Avoid inhaling dust or fume.
3. In the event of eye contact, irrigate thoroughly with clean water for 15 - 20 minutes.
4. Wash with soap and water after handling.
